Dr. Starker has spent a major portion of her career helping individuals cope with normal life transitions such as midlife, menopause, relocation, divorce, and retirement. In her private practice, Dr. Starker specializes in counseling individuals who are coping with depression, anxiety, grief/loss, trauma, health issues, relationships, midlife/menopause and aging.

Dr. Starker is passionately committed to insuring that people have access to critical health information in order to make informed decisions. For seven years she was the health consultant for WebMD, answering questions on midlife and menopause from individuals all over the world.....Using this “virtual office” approach, she offered education and advice to those who found it difficult to raise certain issues in person, or who lived in remote areas with little access to good health care information.

As a college educator, she taught undergraduate and graduate courses on adult development, women in midlife, the psychology of women, and women and aging. She has given numerous presentations on the psychological aspects of midlife and menopause and has also written articles for professional journals and such popular magazines as MS, HEALTH, and SAVVY.

A Member of the North American Menopause Society, Dr. Starker received the North American Menopause Society 2005 NAMS Education Excellence Award recognizing a consumer health educator among the NAMS membership who made a significant contribution toward the quality of life of peri-and post-menopausal women.
