Professional Focus

After years of experience working with people facing life challenges, I've aquired a deep respect for the resiliency of the human spirit. I focus on compassionate listening to get get a deep understanding of the person or couple and their unique situation, strengths, problems and goals. I support people to pay careful attention to their feelings,thoughts, behavior patterns and those of loved ones. New understandings, humor and creative approaches allow a wider view, bring fresh possibilities for forward movement. I assist people to develop skills and experiences necessary to create the changes they desire such as:

BS in Nursing, SUNY at Plattsburgh; Master’s in Psychosocial Nursing, University of Washington
Training in a wide variety of approaches including couple therapy, trauma recovery, stress management and Jungian therapy. Recent training in Focusing Oriented Therapy and Internal Family Systems Therapy.

Over 30 years in mental health field working with individuals, couples, families and groups in outpatient community mental health clinics, psychiatric inpatient units, emergency rooms, and schools. Provided psychiatric assessments and psychological support for hospitalized medical patients as psychiatric consultant. In private practice since 2000. My practice does not include medication prescribing; I collaborate with prescribing providers if medications are needed.
